I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus
Originally recorded in 1953 by a then 13 year old Jimmy Boyd, the song was deemed too risqua and banned by radio stations as it implied a woman having an affair with a married man. Written by British songwriter Tommie Connor, the lyrics follow a child on Christmas Eve who sees his mommy kissing Santa Claus under the mistletoe. The song was condemned by the Roman Catholic Church ,but has since become a holiday staple covered by everyone from The Jackson 5, John Mellencamp and Reba McEntire to Jessica Simpson and Amy Winehouse.
